   Our statutory audit work goes beyond the numbers. We invest time in understanding your accounting systems and the people who run them, then assess and evaluate your internal controls to give you a clear picture of where risk sits. We also have specific experience in Law Society reporting on solicitors' client accounts — a niche capability that is unusual for a firm of our size.

   Taxation

   Our tax practice covers the full spectrum: personal tax returns and savings planning, corporation tax planning and compliance, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, VAT advice and compliance, assistance with HMRC back duty investigations, and offshore trust structures and international tax planning. We are committed to technically innovative advice delivered in a timely manner, always within the context of a close client relationship.

   Corporate Finance

   Whether you are considering a secondary market listing or seeking growth capital, we can help. We provide flotation advice and a free business appraisal for secondary market listings. For debt financing, we draw on established City and West End banking contacts and a detailed knowledge of lenders' parameters. We also arrange asset finance — hire purchase, leasing and debtor finance — and can introduce equity finance through venture capital companies and business angel networks. Mezzanine finance contacts are available where appropriate.

   Planning for Death

   We are authorised by ICAEW to carry out the reserved legal activity of non-contentious probate in England and Wales — a credential that positions us well beyond a standard accountancy practice. Our services include inheritance tax planning, will writing, estate administration, estate planning (legacies, gifts, trusts and guardians), Lasting Power of Attorney for both property/financial affairs and health/welfare, and the full range of non-contentious probate work.

   We believe in fee transparency. Our charges are based on chargeable hours or a percentage of the estate. Grant fees typically fall in the range of £3,000–£7,000 + VAT, and timescales run from three months to two years depending on the complexity of the estate.

   Management Accounting

   We produce monthly management accounts — profit and loss, balance sheet and detailed variance analysis — through a dedicated back-office team of Chartered Accountants. Every set of documents passes through a quality control system tailored specifically to your business, so the reports you receive are consistent, accurate and genuinely useful for decision-making.

   ATOL Reporting

   City, Chartered Accountants is a CAA-licensed ATOL Reporting Accountant (ARA) — a specialist accreditation held by very few firms. We complete ATOL Return work including Annual Accountants' Reports for ATOL-accredited travel companies, and we can work alongside your existing non-ARA accountants to ensure your CAA reporting obligations are fully met. If your business operates in the travel sector, this is a capability worth knowing about.
